The film ‘Juror 8’ unveiled a hidden story in the first public participation trial. Director reconstructed the actual events recorded in 2008 as the most meaningful public participation trial, and unveiled a special trial of ordinary people on the screen.
The ‘Juror 8′ is a film about how ordinary people who become jurors in the first public participation trial find the truth of the incident little by little in their own way. The judge who led the nation’s first public participation trial, which attracted the public attention, and the eight ordinary people who gathered together as the first jury in Korea. The jury is unexpectedly progressed as the defendants’ abusive charges of denying the accusation of indictment, testimony, and confession are all clear, so that the defendants who have been charged with the murder of the defendant remain on trial. At first, some jurors just wanted to go home quickly, but as the trials repeated jurors feel the weight of the act of judging someone. So the jurors are trying to do their best. The judge waits for the right verdict with jurors. The ‘Juror 8’ shows the common people are in the conflict between the judge and the jury, the process of finding the truth of the case based on common sense.
